Pre-contest, 8 weeks out ... - 6/05/06 3:08 pm   The administrator has disabled public write access.
Hey all! Easy question (I think)?? but I'm just not sure ... I'm 8 wks out from my first NPC Figure competition. I cut all dairy this week, including skim milk protein shakes. I'm pretty lean already, so what's the deal on whey with soymilk instead of skim milk? I have eliminated all dairy but I really remain hungry if I just have water w/ my shakes.

Since soymilk doesn't have any dairy and I bought the low sugar kind, I *think* it's cool ...

I plan on visiting here a lot more often and posting my pic on this site but I just keep forgetting!!!!

Thoughts??? Thanx!

Hey Megan,

If you're already pretty lean at 8 weeks out, what you need to do is experiment. While there are guidelines to follow, dialing it in to peak for a contest takes some trial and error. Try adding a little soy milk back into your diet without any other changes and keep an eye on the mirror. When you get into pre-contest, the best thing you can do is track everything so you can refine your plan for the next time until you know exactly what works best for you to get the look you want.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the contest!

OK so now I'm 3.5 weeks out -- lookin' pretty good but not quite where I want to be, of course ...

As a newbie competitor, I got lotsa questions. I'm figure, so I don't want to get too lean/striated/hard but that being said, does anyone have thoughts on when I should try to drop water weight and how? My trainer has lowered my carbs, but not really told me anything about cutting water right before the show ... has anyone had success with Taraxatone or Expel, etc? How far ahead do you use a diuretic and what should your water consumption be then???

THANX!!!!!!!!

I haven't used Expel but I believe most of them have basically copied Taraxatone, which I've used and which does work very well. You want to make sure to cut your sodium intake when using the Taraxatone, as well.

Hope this helps.
